Bucur Square
O projecto incidiu na proposta para um memorial em homenagem às vitimas do incêndio que deflagrou no dia 30 de Outubro na discoteca Colectiv Club, em Bucareste, Roménia. Era através da Praça Bucur que o ingresso ao edificio era feito, tendo sido registadas as primeiras manifestações e homenagens neste local. Actualmente a praça apresenta uma condição de área residual de difícil acesso, totalmente rodeada por vias de circulação rodoviária.
Ao entender a palavra “house” num sentido genérico e metafórico, foi permitida a oportunidade de resolver uma situação urbana frágil, criando simultaneamente uma praça e um memorial. A proposta segue os princípios da composição clássica tripartida: base, corpo e coroamento. Neste caso: um pequeno embasamento que permite criar distância da circulação rodoviária, um corpo central desenhado pela disposição geométrica dos 64 vasos iguais que procuram estabelecer a ordem no caos, e um tecto orgânico evocado através das copas das árvores. Com o desenhar de uma praça / jardim sobrelevada, pretendeu-se melhorar a condição urbana actual, prevalecendo as comunicações pedonais entre os vários pontos da praça, oferecendo à cidade um espaço de permanência e passagem, de luto e homenagem.
The project focused on the proposal for a memorial in honor of the victims of the fire that broke out on October 30 at the Colectiv Club nightclub in Bucharest, Romania. The entrance to the building was made through Bucur Square and it was in this place that the first manifestations and tributes were registered. At the moment the square is a residual area of difficult access, totally surrounded by roads.
By understanding the word "house" in a generic and metaphorical sense, it was allowed the opportunity to solve a fragile urban situation, simultaneously creating a square and a memorial. The proposal follows the principles of the classic tripartite composition: base, body and crown. In this case: a small base that allows to create distance from the road circulation, a central body designed by the geometric arrangement of 64 equal vessels that seek to establish order in the chaos, and an organic ceiling evoked through the treetops.
With the design of a raised plaza/garden, it was intended to improve the current urban condition, prevailing pedestrian communications between the various points of the square, offering the city a space of permanence and passage, mourning and homage.
